The San Diego Padres fall to The Atlanta Brave to the tune of 4-1. The Paders offense was no where to be find have only 1 run on 4 hits, The Braves on the other hand had 4 runs on 8 hits, with the two out broken bat single that scored two runs in the top of the sixth and The Padres really they never recovered, and just to add to it Brent Lillibridge hit his first homer run of the season to seal the deal. Greg Maddux pitch well pitching 7 inning giving up 3 runs on 6 hits 2 BB and 3 strikeouts, while his counter part C.Morton had 5 and one third inning pitched with 1 ER on 4 hits 3 walks and 4 strikeouts,a combination of C.Morton/Ohman/Boyer/and Gonzalez held the Padres to only one run.

Offensively the Padres were no where to be find with the hightlight being if hardly any were J.Gerut hitting an RBI double off of Morton in the bottom of the fourth scoring A.Gonzalez, that would prove to be it for the Padres as the Braves had 4 runs on 8 hits, one that started the scoring in the top of the third was a sacrifice fly by G.Blanco scoring Lillibridge, then the Francoeur’s broke bat 2 RBI single in the sixth followed by Lillibridge homer in the ninth.

Tomorrow the Padres try to win the series with R.Wolf (6-8 with an 4.38 ERA) going against J.Campillo(3-4 with an 3.06 ERA) it should be a good pitchers duel.

Over 40 thousand plus were on hand to watch some Classic Baseball played by The Padres. Jake Peavy moved his record to a respectable 7-5,with a solid 7 innings pitched on only 4 hits, 0 earned and 7 strikeouts. A good bid too get into the All-Star Game on. Also Hoffman got his 17 save of the year on one strikeout. Heath Bell gave up two hits and but neither sored, also has a strikeout. Mike Adams appeared two thirds of an inning and gave up 2 hits then was removed for Bell. It was also The Padres 5 shutout of the year.

Offensively The Padres looked good, better than they have been scoring 4 runs on 9 hit. Scott Hairston had 2 runs and 2 hits(2B and 3B). While the Gonzales boys gave us something to cheer about Edgar 2 hit and RBI, as Adrian had 2 hits one run and RBI. Chase Headley had 2 hits an strikeout, Jody Gerut had The Brave killing RBI in the bottom of the sixth. All-in-All it was a good classic game ,I was impressed by the towels and am glad too see The Padres win the first game in the series that is important when you play a team like the Braves. Lets continue doing so tomorrow!
