A day after a close win for The San Diego Padres and hours after the news came down from up stairs about the trade of Randy Wolf, the padres lost to the Reds 4-3 in 11 innings. The Padres look like they didn’t want to be there. Jake Peavystarted out strong going 5 scoreless then in the sixth inning it came undone, as P.Bako hit a 2run single fallowed by a one run single by J.Votto.

Then in the 11th inning J.Keppinger hit a double which Chase Headleylooked like he gave up on it,  scoring the winning run in J.Burce, it was given up by Byan Corey it being the second walk-off giving up in as few days.
Mike Adams,Heath Bell,Cla Meredithcombined to throw up 4 scoreless innings only giving up one hit,2BB and 8 strikeouts.
Batting and fielding wise the padres seemed like they didn’t not want to play, they kind of look like boys who lost their dogs or best friends, very depressed look and play. They made basic plays into errors, they were swinging at balls and most of the time it was swings at ball 4, instead of taking them they looked comfortable walking back to the dougout.
The Padres had a combined total 6 hits three of them coming for Edger Gonzales and brother Adian Gonzales had one with a RBI,BB,SO.
One other bright spot is Brian Giles had one hit,one run two RBI’s,two walks, two SO
also Khalil Greene had a hit and Luke Carlin had a run scored.

All-in-All the game started out good but throughout the game you could since the Padres were not on top of their game, making clearly mental mistakes fielding and batting.
Tomorrow’s game will not be on T.V as Greg Maddux(3-8) vs B.Arroyo(8-7) at 9:35am can listen on XPRS 1090/105.7 FM , XEMO 860.

At this point in time if The San Diego Padres become sellers here are a few key suggestions for good trades too upgrade the team for 09′ and the years to come!

Trade Tampa Bay RF-Erik Hinske, Jeff Niemann RHP(AAA) and Reid Fronk LF(A) for Jody Gerut and Trevor Hoffman.
The big one being Kevin Kouzmanoff ,Tadahito Iguchi ,Joe Thatcher ,Michael Barrett, Paul McAnulty , Justin Huber ,CL(AA)Greg Burke ,RHP(AA)Gabriel DeHoyos and Jon Schemmel 2B(AA) for Brian Fuentes and Garrett Atkins.
Making the rest of the 08′ and the Padres for 09′ look like this;

For the second game in a row The San Diego Padres get out dueled by The St. Louis Cardinals, 7-11 the cardinals starting the series off strong as they hit two home runs adding too a total of six in the series so far. the padres used a total of six pitchers in the game as the cardinals used the same amount. Greg Madduxwent 4 innings giving up 8 hits 6 runs all earned one walk 4 strikeouts and gave up one home run.

Bryan Corey, Cla Meredith and Mike Adamscombined to throw 2 one third innings scoreless only allowing 3 hits while getting 3 strikeouts. Joe Thatcher allowed one HR and one hit on two and third innings pitched, in a rare outing Heath Bell gave up 4 run on 4 hits all earned walked 2 strikeout 2 and earned the loss on one inning pitched.

The bats where out tonight they just were out swung by the cardinal. Khalil Greene andJody Gerut both homered, Edger Gonzales was 2-4 with 2 hits and a run also one strikeout brother Adrian Gonzales had a hit and an RBI. Brain Giles was 3-4 with RBI and one run scored, Kevin Kouzmanoff and Chase Headleycombined to hit a 1 for 9 with one hit and one RBI and 4 strikeouts, G.Maddux went 1-1 with a run scored.

It was a good tight Baseball game like game are supposed to be, unfortunately the padres came out on the losing end of it, maybe with tomorrow’s game being on FOX (some prime-time) they will find away to pull one off in this series, the starter being Randy Wolf(6-9) vs T.Wellemeyer(7-4) game starts at 12:55 pt.

On the first game back from the All-Star Break The San Diego Padres lose a close one as Jake Peavygets toss around as he gave up back-to-back jacks the 4th inning by R.Ankiel and T.Glaus had two the day,

one more too J.Mather in the 7th inning. All-n-All he still didn’t do to bad with a line of 7 IP on 8 hits 4 runs all earned by HR 7 strikeouts and 0 BB. Mike Adamspitched a scoreless 8th inning only giving up one hit and got one strikeout.

Offensively they didn’t could not get it done scoring 3 runs on 9 hits with 6 left on base. The Highlights of the offence were as followed. Edger Gonzales had 2 runs 2 hit 1 RBI and 2 strikeouts,

brother Adrian Gonzales had 2 hit 1 BB 1strikeout, while Kevin Kouzmanoff had 1 run 2 hits 1 RBI 1BB 1 strikeout, Chase Headley had 1 hit 1 RBI, And don’t forget about Jake Peavywith 2 hits. They really do need to found away to get more run support for pitchers or no one will want to take the mound for us.

On another note Tony Clark was traded too The Arizona Diamondbacks for Minor League RHP Evan ScribnerI kind of thought they went in wrong direction on this one, there were a lot better talent in their farm league like C Sean Coughlin with 10 HR 58 RBI 38/39 BB/SO ratio OBP .367/SLG.489/AVG.262/OPS.856 or there’s

RF Derrick Walkerhitting a line of 7 HR 40 RBI 37/83 BB/SO ratio with 6 SB and OBP.366/SLG.414/AVG.249/OPS.780 either one of those would have been worth it,both play with The South Bend Silver Hawks(A). By the way I can’t seem to find stats on E.Scribner, maybe it was a phantom trade just to get ride of Tony C. well if they were going to do that could they at least phantom trade him to the AL, not within our division!

Over 40 thousand plus were on hand to watch some Classic Baseball played by The Padres. Jake Peavy moved his record to a respectable 7-5,with a solid 7 innings pitched on only 4 hits, 0 earned and 7 strikeouts. A good bid too get into the All-Star Game on. Also Hoffman got his 17 save of the year on one strikeout. Heath Bell gave up two hits and but neither sored, also has a strikeout. Mike Adams appeared two thirds of an inning and gave up 2 hits then was removed for Bell. It was also The Padres 5 shutout of the year.

Offensively The Padres looked good, better than they have been scoring 4 runs on 9 hit. Scott Hairston had 2 runs and 2 hits(2B and 3B). While the Gonzales boys gave us something to cheer about Edgar 2 hit and RBI, as Adrian had 2 hits one run and RBI. Chase Headley had 2 hits an strikeout, Jody Gerut had The Brave killing RBI in the bottom of the sixth. All-in-All it was a good classic game ,I was impressed by the towels and am glad too see The Padres win the first game in the series that is important when you play a team like the Braves. Lets continue doing so tomorrow!

The San Diego Padres lost to the Florida Marlins by the score of 5-2 on Wednesday afternoon as the two teams finished up their three game series.  The Padres lost two out of three games against the Marlins as they just didn’t play very good baseball the past three days.

Cha Seung Baek took the loss and is now 2-4 after throwing give innings and allowing six hits and three runs.  Bryan Corey gave up two big runs in the ninth inning as well which really hurt the team because that pretty much put the game out of reach.  Mike Adams, Heath Bell, and Joe Thatcher all threw out of the pen without allowing runs score.

Scott Hairston stayed hot as he had a solo home run in the sixth inning.  The Padres then pushed across another run in the ninth inning on a Chase Headley rbi single but that was all they could get.

In the end, it was a dissappointing series for the Padres.  They will now be off on Thursday and welcome the Atlanta Braves in for a three game series starting on Friday.

The San Diego Padres lost to the Colorado Rockies by the score of 6-1 on Wednesday night as they finished up a three game series in Denver.  The Padres dropped two of there games to the Rockies and are now 33-52 in a dissapointing season.

Randy Wolf gave up six hits and seven runs in only four innings of action to take the loss for the Padres.  Wolf is now 5-8 on the season and tonight’s game definately won’t help out his stock in a trade.  Bryan Corey pitched two scoreless innings while Mike Adams and Carlos Guevara both tossed a inning each without giving up a run.

Chase Headley had the only run for the Padres as he hit a solo home run off Ubaldo Jimenez in the the second inning.  The Padres struck out five times and left 16 runners on base as they struggled at the plate in the thin air of Denver.

The Padres will now be off on Thursday before starting a weekend series with the Arizona Diamondbacks on Friday.

The San Diego Padres couldn’t get much going against the Minnesota Twins as they lsot 9-3 on Wednesday night and will now have to win on Thursday to avoid the three game sweep in the series.  The Padres had eight hits in the game compared to the Twins nine hits but the Padres were never able to get the big hits like the Twins did to score some runs.

Greg Maddux pitched the first 5 2/3 innings but gave up seven hits and seven runs.  Six of those seven runs were earned.  Maddux struck out three batters, walked two, and gave up one home run.  Maddux fell to 3-6 after taking the loss.

The Padres bullpen was pitching good until Mike Adams gave up two runs in the eighth inning on a Craigh Monroe home run.  Other then that, Carlos Guevara, Cla Meredith, and Justin Hampson pitched well out of the bullpen.

The Padres scored all three of their runs in the first two innings of the game and then were held scoreless the final seven innings.  Adrian Gonzalez grounded into a fielders choice but his little brother Edwin Gonzalez scored on the play in the first inning.  Later in the first inning, Kevin Kouzmanoff tripled and A. Gonzalez scored.  In the second inning Scott Hairston doubled and Michael Barrett scored for the Padres third and final run.

So will the Padres avoid the sweep and get a win on Thursday? Leave us a comment and let us know what you think!  Padres Bloggers

The San Diego Padres were shutout by the New York Yankees on Tuesday night by the score of 8-0.  The Padres simply couldn’t get the bats going even though they had seven hits in the game.  Combine that with three errors and two home runs for the Yankees and you can see why the Padres lost the game.

Randy Wolf gave up all seven runs in the first four innings of the game.  He gave up two home runs to Jason Giambi and one home run to Alex Rodriguez.  Wolf is now 5-5 on the season after taking the loss.

Mike Adams tossed two innings of relief after Wolf left the game and then Carlos Guevara came in to pitch the final two innings of the game and allowed one run.

Chase Headley did have two hits for the Padres at the plate but everyone else either had one hit or went hitless in the game.

Jake Peavy was back on the mound for the San Diego Padres and everything went great as the Padres crused the Los Angeles Dodgers 9-0 on Thursday afternoon.  Peavy was on a pitch count so he only pitched the first seven innings of the game but he was pretty dominated as he only gave up three hits and struckout four batters.

Justin Hampson, Bryan Corey, and Mike Adams pitched the final three innings of the game and only gave up two combined hits.  Great job by the pullpen in finishing up the game.

At the plate, the Padres jumped all over the Dodgers with five runs in the first inning.  Brian Giles had a three run home run, Adrian Gonzalez a rbi single, and then Luke Carlin had a rbi ground out.  That all happened in the first inning!

The Padres just kept adding on runs as Carlin had a bases loaded walk in the third inning.  A. Gonzalez then had a rbi single in the seventh inning before Craig Stansberry singled in a run in the eight inning.  The Padres weren’t done yet though, Jody Gerut also had a rbi single in the ninth inning!

Talk about great pitching and great hitting up and down the lineup.  That is a butt kicking no matter which way you look at it!
