Here is something pretty big that is stuck in my throat that is hard to swallow as a Padres fans! Can you find the holes where the money is going. One thing its not going too the players that are performing well this year Adrian or Edger, oh but wait I can’t even find him on this list. Because he on a minor league contact, if I was going to guess and I know the Padres either splitting a contact with someone or a few; or he’s making under 50k.
On a Sunday afternoon where most San Diegans were probability doing something else besides watching The San Diego Padreswin at least one from the Giants, most were waiting for the Hall Of Fame Game to kick-off the football season, or fishing.
Greg”Mad Dog”Madduxcollected his second straight win maybe enough too get the Padres Font Office off his back; going six strong innings giving up 2 hits one run it was earned and had one strikeout.
Mike Adams, Heath Bell, and Trevor Hoffman combined to throw up 3 scoreless innings giving up only 2 hits one BB and 3 strikeouts, and Hoffman got 23rd save of the year.
The Bats came out today a little bit, with Brian Giles went 3-4 with a run scored 2 hits one RBI and one BB, while Kevin Kouzmanoff hit his 15th home run of the season in the 8th sealing the win. Other notes: Nick Hundleyhad a hit an RBI and two strikeouts and “Mad Dog”Maddux having a hit and an RBI helping his own cause. PlusJody Gerut had one run scored 2 hits and 2 left on base.
No game tomorrow as it is a traveling day for the Padres. But T.V will return Tuesday at Shea Stadium when the Padres’ Chris Young(4-4) vs. Pelfrey(9-7) at 4:10pm pt/7:10pm et on 4SD/704-HD | RADIO: XPRS 1090/105.7 FM , XEMO 860.
On saturday The San Diego Padres where shutout by B.Zito of the Gaints, and its not too say Jake Peavy didn’t pitch his Cy Young type stuff, he did its just Zito was on it as well.
The Padres where shutout 2-0, batting wise the Padres had nothing to be proud of with only three hits and two being by Brian Giles, and one by Scott Hairston.
Pitching was good just not enough run surpport, with Jake going 7 innings giving up 5 hit and one earned run with 7 strikeouts, Clay Hensley and Justin Hampson combine to throw up one and one third scoreless two hits one BB and one strikeout all being Hensley.
Cla Meredith went two thirds of an inning giving up 2 hits one run it was earned.
Tomorrow’s game will showcase Greg”mad dog”Maddux(4-8)vs Correia(2-5). TV: 4SD/704-HD | RADIO: XPRS 1090/105.7 FM , XEMO 860 at 1:05pm pt/3:05pm et.
A run that could have been prevented and a missed opportunity. Two plays. In a game full of great plays and each team getting and giving opportunities, those two plays really hurt The San Diego Padres as they lost to the Giants, 3-2, on Friday night in front of 33,926 fans.
The first, a passed ball by catcher Nick Hundley on a delivery from starter Josh Banks led to a run scoring from third.
The passed ball was just some miscommunication between the pitcher and his catcher. One thought splitter, the other thought fastball.
“We just got crossed up on the signs,” Hundley said. “He threw a split when I thought a fastball was coming. Just bad timing. He shouldn’t have to worry about not being able to see the signs. That’s unacceptable on my end to have that happen.”
The second one ended the game. Three straight singles by Edgar Gonzalez, Brian Giles and Adrian Gonzalez made it a bases-loaded situation, with one out in the bottom of the tenth inning. Kevin Kouzmanoff was coming to the plate. With a 2-2 count, Kouzmanoff hit a hard grounder to I.Ochaoa, the shortstop, who made a great play to touch the bag to get Adrian and then threw out Kouzmanoff at first. Game over.
“It’s one of those things where that’s the way it’s gone for us,” Adrian said. “Kouz hits it in the right spot, at the right speed and he gets thrown out by one step. In other years, he might’ve hit it just off or he beats it out. We tend to hit the balls at the wrong place at the wrong time. And that goes for all of us, the entire year.”
The air of the game seemed like the Padres would get some at-home magic working for them, as the Giants could never really separate themselves. J.Banks did a solid job, allowing two runs one earned on eight hits. Even while T.Lincecum was on the other side throwing 95-mph fastballs that helped him rack up 11 strikeouts during his seven innings of work.
A sacrifice fly by F.Lewis that scored R.Winn gave the Giants a 1-0 lead in the top of the first.
But the Padres answered in the bottom of the second inning, on an RBI single by Luis Rodriguez. On the play, Giants’ first baseman J.Bowker made a great snag, but couldn’t decide where he wanted to go with the ball. As Kouzmanoff charged toward home, Bowker realized that his best play would be to go to first, but Rodriguez slid headfirst into the base and was called safe.
The play tied the game at 1.
The passed ball by Hundley gave the lead back to the Giants, and it would stay that way until the eighth inning.
Coming up in the bottom of an inning that saw center fielder Jody Gerut double-up Bowker at third to prevent an one-out man-on-third situation for the Giants, Adrian walked up the plate. He went through his approach, saw the first pitch from Giants’ reliever J.Taschner and liked it. A lot. So much that he sent it over the left-center-field wall to tie the game.
“When I hit it, I told myself it was out of here,” Adrian said. “But then two steps into it, I was like, ‘it might not get out.’ Just the whole PETCO fear of the ball not getting out.”
That’s what felt different about this game. Moments where it seemed like it wouldn’t, it would. Arian tied the game and Mike Adams and Heath Bell would pitch the Padres into extra innings.
In the tenth, Padres manager Bud Black called on future Hall of Fame closer Trevor Hoffman to, at the very least, preserve the tie. But after getting the first two outs, E.Burriss hit a blooper single over the head of Rodriguez. The Giants’ sent pinch-hitter Eugenio Velez to the plate and he hit a 2-0 fastball to right to score Burriss.
That put the Giants ahead, 3-2.
“Same parameters,” T.Hoffman said of pitching in the 10th instead of the ninth, “you gotta put up a goose egg and give your team a chance.”
There was no goose egg this time, but his team did have a chance, with the bases loaded in the tenth for Kouzmanoff. But it just wasn’t their night.
The San Diego Padres lose a close one to the Diamondbacks 3-0 stoping their winning streak at fouth.
The San Diego Padres had their four game winning streaks come to an end with the Diamondback’s Slow’mo D.Davis. Throwing 7 and two thirds innings scoreless giving up only two hits, he had a no hitter going in to the 7th inning giving up a hit to Brian Giles and gave up one more in the 8th inning to Chase Headley. Nothing came of the two hits.
In the return of Chris Young it should have been a better result for him, as he went 5 innings giving up only 2 hits and 2 BB with 8 strikeouts, very solid outing for Young and even as they lost today game it was a big step in the right direction for the Padres starting pitching rotation.
Other notes from the Bullpen Justin Hampson, Wilfredo Ledezma and Cla Meredith combined to throw up 2 and 1 third innings scoreless giving up 4 hits 1 BB 4 strikeouts. One bad note, Clay Hensley earned the loss with two thirds of an inning giving up 3 hits 3 runs 2 of them earned with one BB.
Tomorrow’s game will highlight Cha Seung Baek (3-5) vs. D.Haren (10-5). Game starts at 7:05pm.pt/10:05pm.et 4SD/704-HD | RADIO: XPRS 1090/105.7 FM, XEMO 860.
On a Saturday evening in Pittsburgh the bats of The San Diego Padres came alive, as Adrian Gonzales had a multi-homerun game with a 3 run blast in the 1st and a solo in the 4th he also had 3runs scored and 3 hits 2 being homers. Kevin Kouzmanoff also had a 3 run dinger and scored one and one strikeout, Nick Hundley got his first homerun of the season and he also had 2 hits one being the homer then had one run scored and one more RBI.
Chase Headley had a hit and a run scored and two BB, Jody Gerut had two hits and strikeout, Edger Gonzales had a run scored and a BB AND Khalil Greene had a hit with a strikeout.
Also Brian Giles ended his 8 game hitting streak having two BB and two runs scored, Josh Banks also went 2-3 with two singles.
Pitching wise the padres were looking pretty good with the starter J.Banks going 5 and two thirds giving up 6 hits 5 runs all earned but banks behalf Cla Meredith gave up a run that should have been held, but banks also had 2 BB and 3 strikeouts and gave up two bombs.
C.Meredith, Justin Hampson and Mike Adams combined two throw up 2 and one third innings scoreless giving up only 2 hits 2BB one strikeout.
Mike Corey went two thirds of an inning giving up a solo shot to Bautista; Trevor Hoffman got his 20th save of the season on one third of an inning.

Today The San Diego Padres pulled one off against the Pirates 6-5. Offensively the padres hit, Brian Giles got two runs two hits, Khalil Greene went 1-1 on a double.Kevin Kouzmanoff went 2-4 2 hits an RBI and a run scored also a strikeout, Adrian Gonzaleshad a two run home run and two runs scored with a IBB. AlsoChase Headley had two hits an RBI and one runs scored but with two strikeouts, and in the return of Josh Bard he went 2-4 with two RBIs, and Cha Seung Beakhad a hit and a strikeout.
Pitching wise C.S.Beak went five and one third innings giving up 7 hits 4 runs all earned one walked batter three strikeouts and gave up two HR. Mike Adams went one and two thirds innings scoreless gave up only two hits, Heath Bell went one inning giving up two hits one run it was earned one walk one strikeout. Trevor Hoffman had a scoreless bottom of the ninth looking like his old self collecting his 19th save of the year.
Today game wasn’t on T.V but tomorrow’s game should be with Josh Banks(2-4) vs Van Benschoten(1-2) 4:05pm pt/ 7:05pm et. 4SD/704-HD | RADIO: XPRS 1090/105.7 FM , XEMO 860.
As The San Diego Padres fall again to the Reds, it seems like the padres are throwing in the towel on play baseball for the year. If so we should send down the players we won’t trade that have low production and bring up the farm league for some pre-major league training, then at least with the veterans in triple A, then at least one of our teams have a chance to win something all be it a triple A championship.
For today game Greg Maddux started out throwing up 4 scoreless innings, then in the 5th the reds scored 1 then in the 6th they scored 3 and the 7th scored five runs and that’s all they needed, Maddux went 5 and one third innings giving up 3 runs 2 of them earned 7 hit and 4 strikeouts plus one HR. With the way Maddux was on a short leash it led me to believe that this start may be the last time we’ll see Maddux in a padre’s uniform.
The bullpen:besides the return of Wilfredo Ledezma going one and one third innings scoreless the bullpen didn’t have a lot to be proud of with Cla Meredith and Joe Thatcher going 1 and one third innings giving up 6 hits 6 runs all earned 2 HR and one strikeout.
In the firstJody Geruthit a solo home run to lead off the game making us think that their picking themselves back up after the sloppy game they played yesterday, he also walked in a run, scored a run and got one more hit on top of the homer.
Other dim spots in the lineup where, Kevin Kouzmanoff homered in the 6th a 2 run shot he also had one run scored one other base hit and one strikeout. Luis Rodriguez went 2-3 with a BB 2 runs scored and one hit,Brian Giles had a hit a RBI and a strikeout,Khalil Greene had a hit and 2 strikeouts,Chase Headley a hit, Nick Hundley2 hits and 2 strikeouts and good old mad-dog Maddux had a hit he went 1-2.
Tomorrow’s game will highlight the return of Clay Hensley as a starter 1-0 0.00 ERA in 3 appearance this year 5 IP 1hit 1BB 3SO , he will counter The Pittsburgh PiratesY.Herrera 0-1 19.50 ERA in 2 starts, the game will be televised at 7:05pm et, 4:05pm pt.
A day after a close win for The San Diego Padres and hours after the news came down from up stairs about the trade of Randy Wolf, the padres lost to the Reds 4-3 in 11 innings. The Padres look like they didn’t want to be there. Jake Peavystarted out strong going 5 scoreless then in the sixth inning it came undone, as P.Bako hit a 2run single fallowed by a one run single by J.Votto.
Then in the 11th inning J.Keppinger hit a double which Chase Headleylooked like he gave up on it, scoring the winning run in J.Burce, it was given up by Byan Corey it being the second walk-off giving up in as few days.
Mike Adams,Heath Bell,Cla Meredithcombined to throw up 4 scoreless innings only giving up one hit,2BB and 8 strikeouts.
Batting and fielding wise the padres seemed like they didn’t not want to play, they kind of look like boys who lost their dogs or best friends, very depressed look and play. They made basic plays into errors, they were swinging at balls and most of the time it was swings at ball 4, instead of taking them they looked comfortable walking back to the dougout.
The Padres had a combined total 6 hits three of them coming for Edger Gonzales and brother Adian Gonzales had one with a RBI,BB,SO.
One other bright spot is Brian Giles had one hit,one run two RBI’s,two walks, two SO
also Khalil Greene had a hit and Luke Carlin had a run scored.
All-in-All the game started out good but throughout the game you could since the Padres were not on top of their game, making clearly mental mistakes fielding and batting.
Tomorrow’s game will not be on T.V as Greg Maddux(3-8) vs B.Arroyo(8-7) at 9:35am can listen on XPRS 1090/105.7 FM , XEMO 860.
