The San Diego Padres and San Francisco Giants battled all night long to a 0-0 tie until the bottom of the 9th inning when the Giants finally scored the first and last run of the game. Daniel Ortmeier hit a double that scored Rajai Davis for the winning run. Heath Bell took the loss after giving up the double.
The Padres were only able to scrap together four hits the entire game. I would have expected a lot better outcome considering how bad the Giants pitching staff has been this year. What a disappointing performance.
Justin Germano pitched seven inning of shutout ball to get the no decision. He pitched well enough to win, the offense just didn’t score any runs to give him some support. Tough luck for Germano.
