The San Diego Padres ran into a hot playing Minnesota Twins team and lost 4-3 on Thursday afternoon.  With the 4-3 loss the Padres were swept away in the series and are now 32-48 on the season.  The Padres just can’t come up with the big hit and get the runs that they need to to win some of these close games.

Josh Banks piched 5 1/3 innings and gave up seven hits and four runs to take the loss.  Banks is now 2-2 on the season.  Bryan Corey, Justin Hampson, and Cla Meredith all did a great job pitching in relief of Banks.  The three relief pitchers did not allow one run to cross the plate and atleast kept the Padres in the game.

The Padres just couldn’t get the big hit that they needed to late in the game.  We sure have been seeing that a lot from the Padres hitters.  Khalil Greene hit his eighth home run of the season in the second inning to put the Padres up 1-0.  In the third inning, Brian Giles had a rbi sac fly and then Jody Gerut later scored on an error to put the Padres up 3-0.  Too bad that they couldn’t hold onto that lead as the Twins came back with four unanswered runs in the game to pull out the win.

The Padres will now play the Seattle Mariners this weekend in a three game series.
