The San Diego Padres were only down one run heading into the ninth inning, but when they came to bat in the bottom of the inning, they were down by eight runs as the Rockies put up a seven spot in the top half of the inning and went onto win the game 10-2.
Cla Meredith and Glendon Rusch gave up the seven runs in the ninth inning. Meredith gave up four runs and Rusch gave up three runs. Starting pitcher Justin Germano pitched seven innings and allowed three earned runs.
Brian Giles had both RBI for the Padres. He had a ground rule double in the third inning and then a RBI triple in the fifth inning. Would have been nice to see other players step up at the plate, but that didn’t happen.
