The San Diego Padres purchased the minor league contracts of Jody Gerut and Glendon Rusch on Wednesday night.  Both players performed pretty well during spring training and earned a spot on the Padres roster.

The Padres also put some players on the disabled list on Wednesday.

Mark Prior and Tim Stauffer were both placed on the 60-day disabled list retroactive to March 21.

Clay Hensley, Justin Hampson, and Carlos Guevara were all placed on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to March 21.

The Padres also optioned Kevin Cameron and Luis Rodriguez to Triple-A Portland.

The San Diego Padres have send down six players to their minor league camp or to the teams minor league teams as they cut down their roster as opening day is almost here.

Shawn Estes, Adam Bass, and Chip Ambres were all sent to minor league camp.

Oscar Robles, Craig Stansberry, and Brian Myrow were optioned to Triple-A Portland.

The San Diego Padres have trimmed their spring training roster by sending down 18 players to various spots in the Padres minor league system.

Twelve players were re-assigned to minor league camp.  Those players were:  Wade LeBlanc, Paul Abraham, Arturo Lopez, Edgar Gonzalez, Marshall McDougall, Matt Antonelli, Mike Baxter, Will Venable, Drew Macias, Vince Sinisi, Nick Hundley, and Jose Lobaton.

Two players were optioned to Triple-A Portland.  Those two players were Colt Morton and Mauro Zarate.

Ernesto Frieri was optioned to Double-A San Antonio.

Wilton Lopez was optioned to Single-A Lake Elsinore.
