Padres catcher Yorvit Torrealba has been placed on the restricted list for personal reasons and is expected to be away from the team for at least three days. Team officials say Torrealba is tending to a family matter. To take his roster spot, the Padres recalled catcher Dusty Ryan from Triple-A Portland.

Nick Hundley was surrounded by a pack of reporters and cameramen when the San Diego Padres' other catcher, Yorvit Torrealba, walked by and offered an unsolicited opinion. "He's the best catcher on this team, I'm telling you," Torrealba said. With the San Diego Padres these days, that's hard to tell.

Nick Hundley and Mat Latos form quite the battery for the San Diego Padres. Hundley hit a three-run home run in the first inning and Latos won his fourth straight decision as the San Diego Padres beat the Washington Nationals 4-2 on Saturday night. Hundley, who has been splitting time at catcher with Yorvit Torrealba, accounted for all four Padres runs.

The official lineup card that he'd handed umpire Tim Timmons at the plate meeting didn't list Richard as the starter. It listed Adam Russell.

The San Diego Padres have placed shortstop Everth Cabrera on the 15-day disabled list for the second time this season due to a strained right hamstring. The move is retroactive to Monday. Cabrera previously was placed on the DL April 30, retroactive to April 27, and was reinstated May 14. To take his roster spot, infielder Lance Zawadzki was recalled from Triple-A Portland.
